When Coraline was a child she had thought university was supposed to be a boring affair, in drizzly England with really old crumbly buildings. What Coraline had found out though at eighteen was that college was a whole other thing. College had cute boys with American accents, it had sprawling campuses with exciting classes, warm weather with beaches, lots of places to explore and lots of new friends to get into trouble with.
Like Sam Witwicky; best friend, fellow dork, captain and general all round nice (hot) guy. It didn't matter that Sam didn't really seem to notice the fact that Coraline was a woman, Cora was just glad to spend time with him. And his totally cool car which Corline was convinced was alive from the few times she had been allowed to get a ride with Sam (once for thanksgiving, where she got to meet Sam's parents who were mental but lovely. And once to the airport where she cried for about an hour after she got on the plane.) Not that Sam ever let on the car was magical or alive or alien or something but Coraline had a knack with these things... she just knew it.
"You know I know, right? The whole magical car thing, I know." Coraline said casually, leaning back against the car. Boots pressed against the tires, Coraline leaned forward looking up towards the dorms where Sam was getting his stuff. Honestly Coraline was curious, an explorer and had known Sam for nearly a year now and even if she hadn't known him for practically a lifetime, she was still Coraline Jones, "So, that's how we're going to play it then, huh?"
Coraline looked at the silent car, smile turning into a grin before she patted the bonnet. Good car.
"Yeah, yeah I'll get you to spill eventually you wait and see Bumblebee." Coraline said, squinting in the early morning light at the familiar sight of her best friend. Waving wildly at Sam, Coraline picked up her bags and bounced on her toes as she waited for him. "Come on Witwicky, we haven't got all day. There are beaches to see, waves to surf, classes to not go to."
Coraline bounded over to Sam as he got near the car. Pouncing on him, Coraline wrapped her arms around Sam and hugged him tight. Coraline pulled back to look at him, grinning.
"Is that what you're wearing? Really? Are you sure? Because I think that Will Turner might want his outfit back, is that pirate chic? All you need now is guyliner and you are all set, do you want to borrow mine?" Coraline asked, reeling off a hundred questions as she grinned goofily at him. "I'm kidding you look... you know."
Hot.
She wasn't saying that. At all.

Hot.
She wasn't saying that. At all.

Emerging out of the water gasping, Coraline smiled looking for Sam.
no subject
"You shouldn't have started anything that you can't finish!"
no subject
Coraline laughed as she twisted round, facing Sam with a bright smile as she pressed her hands against his chest still trying to get free. "Revenge will be mine... How are you super strong? You're going down Sam."
no subject
Rather than admit defeat and let her go, Sam decided that he could take one for the team, team Sam that is, and just dunk them both. Taking a deep breath he sunk underneath the water, pulling her down with him before letting her go.
no subject
The water was cool against her flushed cheeks and for once she was kind of glad Sam had stopped her with his Samness. She was going to kiss Sam, Sam her best friend who didn't have a clue and who'd probably hate her forever and let things get weird if she had kissed him.
Coraline swam back to the surface, looking at Sam with a seriously annoyed face before splashing him with a grin.
"Jerk. Okay, you win this round Sam. I'm yours to command oh dread pirated one." Coraline said trying to push back the fact that she had almost kissed him.
no subject
He was glad when she splashed him and he had to look away, otherwise he'd get way too lost in that smile and he wasn't sure if that was good or bad.
"Then I claim my prize!" he said, swimming near her and scooping her up in his arms as he started to carry her out of the water. "Can I make some sort of joke about prized pirate booty or is that off limits?"
no subject
Coraline clung a little, leaning against him for support as she pressed into him. "What sort of prized pirate booty joke? On a scale of Sam to Leo what are talking about here?"
no subject
"Please, you hardly weigh anything," he said. Not quite true, she was a tall girl and while she was lean, she had a decent amount of muscle.
"And talking about your prized booty would probably be closer to Leo than Sam," he admitted. That was also the closest he would probably ever get to complimenting her backside.
no subject
"Ahuh, yeah the only person prizing my booty is Leo and he hits on anything female that moves or breathes." Coraline said scrunching her face up in disbelief. Guys just didn't ask her out, stared at her breasts yeah occasionally but generally ask her out on a date? Nope. Not that she minded, the only guy she wanted to ask her out was pretty much in the dark about her being a girl at all. "So go on then hit me with your best prized booty joke."
no subject
Some girls said they were ugly or things like that to fish for compliments, but Coraline wasn't that type, he knew that. She honestly didn't realize just how pretty she was.
"Leo only hits on hot girls. Do you not notice guys, and quite a few girls, checking you out everywhere you go? Your booty? Every guy would love to touch it and every girl wants to have one like it. And that's probably not even your best feature. Do you never look at your legs?"
Sam threw up his hands in frustration and started walking to the house. He wasn't upset or anything, he was just being Sam and really getting up steam.
"Hottest girl ever and she doesn't even know that she's attractive."
no subject
"I'm gawky, enough boys told me that. Gawky and flat chested, okay not flat chested anymore but you know the point still stands no one asks me out. If I'm that attractive someone would've asked me out," Coraline said, lips parted as Sam started to walking towards the house. Coraline knew what Sam was like when he got like this, he got all well Sam-like. Coraline ran after Sam, catching up to him finally. "Are you angry at me?"
no subject
"And guys don't ask you out, because you're intimidating. I mean, you're nice and funny and smart and gorgeous. The only guys with enough guts to ask you out are frat douchebags and even then they're just trying to get in your pants. Look, I am a straight guy. I have been interested in girls since I had a giant curly afro in sixth grade. I am an expert on this. You are the hottest girl I have ever seen."
no subject
"But you're not a douchebag and you're not intimidated by me and you've never asked me out." Coraline said quietly, brushing her hair back behind her ear. "I mean, if I'm the hottest girl you've ever seen- which is impossible by the way I've seen pictures of her and she's more pouty than me. But if I was the hottest girl then why haven't you just I don't know asked me out."
no subject
"And I'm afraid soon you'll realize that and you'll be bored of me. I don't want to lose one of my best friends because I thought I had a chance."
no subject
Coraline waited for a moment, always impatient before sighing and rolling her eyes. "You're an idiot Sam Witwicky," Coraline said before pulling Sam's arm and body towards her before kissing him firmly on the lips.
no subject
After a moment, he finally broke the kiss to catch his breath. His heart was pounding in his ears and his knees felt really, really weak.
"Wha- why did t you ever say anything or let me know? We could have been kissing all this time."
no subject
"Sam," Coraline mumured with a smile when he broke the kiss. Shrugging Coraline looked up at him curiously. "I didn't think you liked me like that. I mean, I tried to show you but remember that dress I wore to one of the parties, the really short blue one? I thought you might have said something then if you liked me but you didn't so I just thought that you didn't like me."
Coraline bit her lip, grinning at him. "We could have been kissing? How much kissing are we talking about? How much kissing have you been thinking about?"
no subject
"And, uhhh, all the kissing? I mean, we wouldn't have had to put an upper limit on it. All the stuff we had been doing we could have just added kissing to it. And touching, uh, I mean.... you touching. I like your touching."
no subject
"You like... really? Me touching you? Well, I guess we've got to make up for a lot then."Coraline asked smile brightening to a grin at Sam. Coraline brushed her lips against Sam's, smiling a bright goofy grin at him before kissing him properly, parting her lips against his softly. Sliding her hand up to the nape of his neck she was about to thread her fingers through his hair when she felt a small rumble beneath her feet.
"Erm, I think the Earth just moved." Coraline said laughing as she clung onto Sam at the little tremor.
no subject
Once she mentioned the rumbling though, he knew he had felt it before, and that it was NOT a good thing, not at all.
"No, no, no. This is not happening," he said, grabbing her by the hand and dragging her back toward the house.
"BEE!" he screamed. "We've got Decepticons!"
Almost before he finished shouting though, he could hear the car transforming and a moment later, Bee was charging toward them in robot form, guns ready to fire on any hostilities.
no subject
Coraline hit Sam's arm, running with him as she turned and saw what exactly Sam meant by Decepticon. Coraline's eyes widened, her first instinct to run Towards the danger as Sam tugged her away from it.
"Not into the house! It's a giant robot it will crush the house and then you will be a squished Sam and squished Sam's don't get kisses they get I told you ahh!" Coraline yelled, as something crashed into the house. "-so. We're going around the house. Around."
Coraline liked to run towards danger but even she knew that when attacked by giant ass robots, you ran away. Coraline tugged Sam around the side of the house, the less direct and quick route but possibly safer route. "Your friend is going to kill you by the way. I think Bumblebee took out his garage."
no subject
Bee looked at Sam quickly and made an apologetic sound before he began firing at the Decepticons. These particular model of Decepticon weren't very big, but there were about a dozen of them, popping up all over the beach. What they could have possibly wanted with Sam was beyond him, but right now that didn't matter.
"We need a phone," he said to Coraline, panting as his heart pounded in his chest. As messed up as it seemed, he was glad that she was there, she was good at thinking quickly.
"We need to make a call."
no subject
"My phone!" Coraline said automatically then remembering where she had left her phone in her bag, her bag which was inside Bumblebee who was now a giant robot. "Okay, forget that plan the phone is inside Bumblebee which is now kind of weird. Will it be goopy? Scrunched up? Now is not the time for questions Coraline Jones."
Coraline threw open the gate, running out onto the street. Next door neighbours, too slow. Passing jogger, no room for phone. Guard in the guard box. Guard in the guard box!
"Guard box! Totally guard box! I should say now is not the time to be calling anyone but I'm hoping you have like the robot equivalent of Ghostbusters number memorised." Coraline said skidding into the street and glancing behind one of the things that looked like it had spotted them making their escape. "What did you do to piss those things off?"
no subject
"Guardhouse," he nodded, pushing her in that direction. "And I kind of stopped them from taking over the world and killed their leader. They're sort of resentful of that."
Resentful was a bit of an understatement, but a more complete explanation would have to wait for when nothing was trying to kill them right that moment. He was sure Bee could handle the robots on the beach, but there was no telling what might join them.
no subject
Although to be fair to Coraline she still didn't realise the effect she was having on passer bys and the people in their homes. The pair of them were running barefoot down the middle of the street, Coraline wearing only a bikini and still pretty much dripping wet. The little gated community might not have talked about the robots in weeks to come but they definitely talked about that.
"Okay, there it is. Right, remember how I can't lie to save my life. You're going to go explain how there's a big old gas leak to the nice guard man and you need to use the phone and I'm going to keep quiet," Coraline said pushing Sam towards the guard house, turning around at what sounded like metal scraping across tarmac. Ahuh, okay they needed to be quick about this.
