When Coraline was a child she had thought university was supposed to be a boring affair, in drizzly England with really old crumbly buildings. What Coraline had found out though at eighteen was that college was a whole other thing. College had cute boys with American accents, it had sprawling campuses with exciting classes, warm weather with beaches, lots of places to explore and lots of new friends to get into trouble with.
Like Sam Witwicky; best friend, fellow dork, captain and general all round nice (hot) guy. It didn't matter that Sam didn't really seem to notice the fact that Coraline was a woman, Cora was just glad to spend time with him. And his totally cool car which Corline was convinced was alive from the few times she had been allowed to get a ride with Sam (once for thanksgiving, where she got to meet Sam's parents who were mental but lovely. And once to the airport where she cried for about an hour after she got on the plane.) Not that Sam ever let on the car was magical or alive or alien or something but Coraline had a knack with these things... she just knew it.
"You know I know, right? The whole magical car thing, I know." Coraline said casually, leaning back against the car. Boots pressed against the tires, Coraline leaned forward looking up towards the dorms where Sam was getting his stuff. Honestly Coraline was curious, an explorer and had known Sam for nearly a year now and even if she hadn't known him for practically a lifetime, she was still Coraline Jones, "So, that's how we're going to play it then, huh?"
Coraline looked at the silent car, smile turning into a grin before she patted the bonnet. Good car.
"Yeah, yeah I'll get you to spill eventually you wait and see Bumblebee." Coraline said, squinting in the early morning light at the familiar sight of her best friend. Waving wildly at Sam, Coraline picked up her bags and bounced on her toes as she waited for him. "Come on Witwicky, we haven't got all day. There are beaches to see, waves to surf, classes to not go to."
Coraline bounded over to Sam as he got near the car. Pouncing on him, Coraline wrapped her arms around Sam and hugged him tight. Coraline pulled back to look at him, grinning.
"Is that what you're wearing? Really? Are you sure? Because I think that Will Turner might want his outfit back, is that pirate chic? All you need now is guyliner and you are all set, do you want to borrow mine?" Coraline asked, reeling off a hundred questions as she grinned goofily at him. "I'm kidding you look... you know."
Hot.
She wasn't saying that. At all.

"Yeah, well I'm tall and okay maybe I'm not smelly but I'm not super attractive either so I could be Fezzik if I wanted. I don't but I mean if you get to be the Dread Pirate Roberts then I should be able to be Inigo. It's not like I'm Buttercup." Coraline said wrinkling her nose at the thought, stretching her legs out and arching her back as she shifted to get comfortable. Coraline looked over at Sam when he made that little statement and smiled at him. "Of course you wouldn't, you're my best friend Sam and best friends don't let people get stabbed by six fingered men. Or let their friends slash roomies hit on them, leer or let them try to accidently walk in on them when someone is using your room as a changing room."
Coraline liked Leo but he also made her bash her face repeatedly against Sam's chest or back and occasionally a wall.
"We're here?" Coraline turned, looking curious and confused as Sam turned into a gated community. Glancing around Coraline watched curiously, turning in her seat to face away from Sam and half lean out the window so she could see. Huh. Why on Earth where they here? Cora could not figure it out at all. Twisting back into her seat Coraline looked at Sam with a vague smile on her lips. "Where are we? More importantly what are you up to Sam?"
no subject
"Not super-"
Before Sam could finish the statement though, apparently Bee had something to say on the subject.
Here I come
I'm comin' to get ya
Foxy lady
You look so good
Yeah, foxy
Yeah, give us some
Foxy
Yeah, get it, babe
You make me feel like
Feel like sayin' foxy
Foxy
Foxy lady
Foxy lady
"No, stop, stop," Sam sputtered, flipping buttons and switches on the radio in an attempt to make Bee stop. "I really, really need to get that radio fixed. And you'll just have to wait and see."
He added a slap to the dash for a good measure. Bee could be very, very opinionated about things and Sam knew that he really liked Coraline. Ignoring the Bee problem though, Sam pulled up to the little guard shack.
"Sam Witwicky," he said, leaning out the window. "I'm on the list."
The guard scanned over something and then nodded, pressing a button to open up the gate so Sam could drive through.
no subject
"You've been needing to get that radio fixed in a while. I don't know I kind of like it even if it does have sometimes dubious taste in music. Sometimes," Coraline said as Sam slapped the dash. Coraline leaned forward rubbing the dash with her hand and murmuring a quiet 'he doesn't mean it' so Sam couldn't hear her. She was covering her bases just in case Bumblebee really was alive.
As Sam pulled up to the guard house, Coraline leaned across him looking up at the guard with a grin before mouthing 'You're on a list?' at Sam. Leaning back as the gate went up, Coraline looked at Sam curiously.
"On a list huh?" Coraline asked.
no subject
National security lists totally counted, even if he couldn't tell her about that. The government kind of frowned on it when you revealed national security information just to impress a girl, no matter how awesome the girl was.
Winding through the roads, Sam drove a ways through the community until he was away from the rest of the houses. He stopped outside of a small house that was at a cove, pulling up into the driveway. Shutting off the car, or at least seeming to, he grinned at Coraline.
"A friend had a private beach-house he wasn't going to be using so he said I could come hang out here. Private beach-house also means private beach."
no subject
"A private beach?" Coraline wrinkled her nose as if it was a bad idea before grinning at Sam happily. Unclipping her seatbelt quickly, Coraline threw her arms around Sam and hugged him tightly. "Sam this is so awesome. No fighting with toddlers for exploring rights or wolfwhistling idiots or people who hog the waves. This is so briliant, you're the best Sam."
Coraline looked expectantly at Sam as she pulled back, nudging him in the stomach Coraline grinned. "So... race you to the water?"
no subject
As she gave the challenge though, Sam was all ready to beat her. Only his seat belt wouldn't unlock for some reason. Apparently Bee was a bit sensitive and didn't like Sam's comments earlier.
"Oh come on!" he shouted, struggling with the belt and what was apparently a locked door. Coraline's door seemed to just swing open on its own. "This doesn't count, this is so not fair!"
no subject
The beach was completely empty, private, quiet and peaceful. Well, peaceful except for Coraline's joyous whooping as she ran towards the water slowing only to pull off her boots and toss them into the sand.
no subject
Coraline looked... hot. Not just gorgeous, but seriously fall to the floor, crawl to the door smoking hot.
"Okay, you won," he said, kicking off his own shoes. "That means you have to cook lunch. Congratulations, I'm so jealous."
no subject
Coraline snapped out of her staring, brushing her hair behind her ears and up into a ponytail as she stepped out her shorts.
"Do you really want me to cook? I mean, if you really really want me to then I will. If you think you can handle it that is," Coraline said stretching her arms behind her head as she grinned at him, walking backwards towards the water.
no subject
"Alright, maybe I can help you out with the cooking a bit," he said. That actually sounded fun, doing an almost silly thing like that with her. He bet they would have fun if they didn't burn down the house. He hoped they didn't burn down the house, Lennox would be pissed.
"So you approve of the surprise?" he asked, following her into the water.
no subject
Coraline smiled, wading backwards into the water. Slipping her shoulders beneath the water, she watched Sam follow her in before mmmming thoughtfully at his question.
"Do I approve of the surprise?" Coraline asked turning to swim a little away from Sam. Biting her lip as she grinned she turned back towards him waiting for him to catch up and waiting until he was close. "Hmmm, yep!"
Coraline grinned, reaching for Sam's shoulders with her hands. Coraline ran her hands over his shoulders, moving in close before she pushed down with all her weight trying to dunk him under water. "Love the surprise."
no subject
He responded with something like "guhhhhh, bzuh" even before she had pushed him under water. After that, it was all gurgles and burbles as his hands flailed out, grabbing at her to pull her back under. He just hoped he didn't grab anything he shouldn't while his hands were flailing.
no subject
Emerging out of the water gasping, Coraline smiled looking for Sam.
no subject
"You shouldn't have started anything that you can't finish!"
no subject
Coraline laughed as she twisted round, facing Sam with a bright smile as she pressed her hands against his chest still trying to get free. "Revenge will be mine... How are you super strong? You're going down Sam."
no subject
Rather than admit defeat and let her go, Sam decided that he could take one for the team, team Sam that is, and just dunk them both. Taking a deep breath he sunk underneath the water, pulling her down with him before letting her go.
no subject
The water was cool against her flushed cheeks and for once she was kind of glad Sam had stopped her with his Samness. She was going to kiss Sam, Sam her best friend who didn't have a clue and who'd probably hate her forever and let things get weird if she had kissed him.
Coraline swam back to the surface, looking at Sam with a seriously annoyed face before splashing him with a grin.
"Jerk. Okay, you win this round Sam. I'm yours to command oh dread pirated one." Coraline said trying to push back the fact that she had almost kissed him.
no subject
He was glad when she splashed him and he had to look away, otherwise he'd get way too lost in that smile and he wasn't sure if that was good or bad.
"Then I claim my prize!" he said, swimming near her and scooping her up in his arms as he started to carry her out of the water. "Can I make some sort of joke about prized pirate booty or is that off limits?"
no subject
Coraline clung a little, leaning against him for support as she pressed into him. "What sort of prized pirate booty joke? On a scale of Sam to Leo what are talking about here?"
no subject
"Please, you hardly weigh anything," he said. Not quite true, she was a tall girl and while she was lean, she had a decent amount of muscle.
"And talking about your prized booty would probably be closer to Leo than Sam," he admitted. That was also the closest he would probably ever get to complimenting her backside.
no subject
"Ahuh, yeah the only person prizing my booty is Leo and he hits on anything female that moves or breathes." Coraline said scrunching her face up in disbelief. Guys just didn't ask her out, stared at her breasts yeah occasionally but generally ask her out on a date? Nope. Not that she minded, the only guy she wanted to ask her out was pretty much in the dark about her being a girl at all. "So go on then hit me with your best prized booty joke."
no subject
Some girls said they were ugly or things like that to fish for compliments, but Coraline wasn't that type, he knew that. She honestly didn't realize just how pretty she was.
"Leo only hits on hot girls. Do you not notice guys, and quite a few girls, checking you out everywhere you go? Your booty? Every guy would love to touch it and every girl wants to have one like it. And that's probably not even your best feature. Do you never look at your legs?"
Sam threw up his hands in frustration and started walking to the house. He wasn't upset or anything, he was just being Sam and really getting up steam.
"Hottest girl ever and she doesn't even know that she's attractive."
no subject
"I'm gawky, enough boys told me that. Gawky and flat chested, okay not flat chested anymore but you know the point still stands no one asks me out. If I'm that attractive someone would've asked me out," Coraline said, lips parted as Sam started to walking towards the house. Coraline knew what Sam was like when he got like this, he got all well Sam-like. Coraline ran after Sam, catching up to him finally. "Are you angry at me?"
no subject
"And guys don't ask you out, because you're intimidating. I mean, you're nice and funny and smart and gorgeous. The only guys with enough guts to ask you out are frat douchebags and even then they're just trying to get in your pants. Look, I am a straight guy. I have been interested in girls since I had a giant curly afro in sixth grade. I am an expert on this. You are the hottest girl I have ever seen."
no subject
"But you're not a douchebag and you're not intimidated by me and you've never asked me out." Coraline said quietly, brushing her hair back behind her ear. "I mean, if I'm the hottest girl you've ever seen- which is impossible by the way I've seen pictures of her and she's more pouty than me. But if I was the hottest girl then why haven't you just I don't know asked me out."
